Before You Ride

Every rider needs a signed waiver.

Because Skyline Velo Cycling Club is a club for riders 18 and under, a parent or legal guardian has to sign the waiver on a rider's behalf before they join any club ride — this isn't optional, and it's separate from anything about cost. It's what keeps everyone covered and everyone honest about the real risks of group riding on open roads.

What the waiver covers

A release for ordinary risks of group cycling (traffic, road conditions, other riders, falls) — it does not, and cannot, cover reckless or grossly negligent conduct by a ride leader. If something like that ever happens, this waiver isn't what protects the club.

Who signs

A parent or legal guardian, on behalf of any rider under 18. Riders can't sign for themselves under California law.

Status

The actual waiver form is still being finalized — this page will link directly to it once it's ready and has been reviewed by a parent/guardian (and ideally an actual lawyer, given real stakes are involved). Check back before your first ride.
