Join the Club

18 and under. Any ability. Free.

There's no fee or minimum fitness level to join Skyline Velo Cycling Club. You just have to do the following before your first ride:

1. Get in touch

Fill this out and we'll follow up by email — or message us on Instagram or email admin@skylinevelo.cc directly.

Needed in case of an emergency during a ride.

2. Get the waiver signed

A parent or guardian signs it — required for every rider under 18. See below for the full waiver and to sign it.

3. Show up

Meet at Stanford Hills Park — Wednesdays at 4:45 PM, Saturdays at 9:30 AM.

Staying a member

Riding with us is always free and open to everyone 18 and under, no matter what. To count as an official club member, make it out to at least one ride a month — RSVP on our Strava club page so we know you're coming.

Before You Ride

Every rider needs a signed waiver.

Because Skyline Velo Cycling Club is a club for riders 18 and under, a parent or legal guardian has to sign the waiver on a rider's behalf before they join any club ride — this isn't optional.

What the waiver covers

A release for ordinary risks of group cycling (traffic, road conditions, other riders, falls) — it does not, and cannot, cover reckless conduct or negligence beyond ordinary risk by a ride leader. If something like that ever happens, this waiver isn't what protects the club.

Who signs

A parent or legal guardian, on behalf of any rider under 18. Riders can't sign for themselves under California law.

Read the full waiver

This is the complete document a parent or legal guardian is agreeing to below. Read it in full before signing.

Skyline Velo Cycling Club
Acknowledgement of Risks, Waiver and Release of Liability, and Emergency Medical Authorization (Minor Participant)

This waiver must be completed and signed by a parent or legal guardian on behalf of any rider under 18. Riders cannot sign for themselves under California law.

In consideration of the participant named below being allowed to participate in any way in Skyline Velo Cycling Club programs, rides, and related activities (collectively, "Club Activities"), I, as the parent or legal guardian of the participant, with full legal authority to act on their behalf, acknowledge, appreciate, and agree that:

1. Acknowledgement of Risk

The risk of injury from participating in Club Activities is significant, including the potential for serious injury, permanent disability, and death. While particular skills, equipment, adult supervision, and personal discipline may reduce this risk, the risk of serious injury does exist, and I understand and accept this on behalf of the participant.

2. Assumption of Risk

I knowingly and freely assume all such risks, both known and unknown, on behalf of the participant, and accept full responsibility for the participant's involvement in Club Activities.

3. Duty to Report Hazards

I agree that the participant will comply with the stated and customary rules of Club Activities. If the participant or I observe any unusual or significant hazard during Club Activities, the participant will remove themselves from the activity and a representative of the Club will be notified immediately.

4. Release, Indemnification, and Hold Harmless

I, for myself, the participant, and on behalf of the participant's heirs and legal representatives, hereby release, forever discharge, indemnify, and hold harmless Skyline Velo Cycling Club, USA Cycling, Inc. (once the Club is registered), their officers, ride leaders, volunteers, and representatives, other participants in Club Activities, and any owners or lessors of premises used for Club Activities (collectively, "Releasees"), with respect to any and all injury, disability, death, or loss or damage to person or property arising from the participant's presence or participation in Club Activities, to the fullest extent permitted by California law.

5. Rules & Equipment

I understand and agree that the participant is required to: wear a helmet at all times while riding with the Club; ride a bicycle in safe operating condition; obey all applicable traffic laws; and follow the reasonable instructions of Club ride leaders.

6. Emergency Medical Treatment Authorization

In the event of injury or illness during a Club Activity where I cannot be immediately reached, I authorize Club ride leaders to arrange for emergency medical treatment, including transport to a medical facility, on the participant's behalf. I understand the Club will attempt to contact me as soon as possible.

7. Photo/Media Release

I grant Skyline Velo Cycling Club the right to photograph and film the participant during Club Activities, and to use such photos and video in the Club's social media, website, and promotional materials, without compensation. This is a condition of participation.

8. Governing Law

This agreement is governed by the laws of the State of California.

9. Severability

If any provision of this agreement is found by a court of competent jurisdiction to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision shall be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary so that the remainder of this agreement remains in full force and effect.

I have read this Acknowledgement of Risks, Waiver and Release of Liability. I understand its terms, I understand that the participant and I are giving up substantial rights by signing it, and I sign it freely and voluntarily, as the participant's parent or legal guardian, without any inducement.

Sign the waiver

A parent or legal guardian — someone 18 or older — must be the one filling out and signing this section, not the rider.
This is the parent/guardian's signature, not the rider's. Typing your name above and submitting this form is your electronic signature, intended to have the same legal effect as a handwritten one.
